Complete the dream and finish this masterpiece designed by multi award winning architect Ray Van Wayenburg of MDL Architects.
If you are thinking of building and just can’t find the perfect location, this unfinished project could be the perfect opportunity to develop your dream lifestyle.
When the owners first looked at the property they were attracted to the beautiful rock walls that had been built using the volcanic rocks from the section. They loved the green hills, the abundance of bird life, the beautifully planted walkway to the left, the farmer's weir and waterfall on DOC land below. Once they had purchased this 7649sqm piece of land, they flew up the architect who was inspired by the outlook, but was even more intrigued by the myriad of volcanic rocks which reminded him of Japan, a country together with NZ that inspires his designs.
And so this one storey home with it’s simple roof line, with it’s high stud, it’s over sized windows and doors, a skylight to provide loads of natural light, louvres and feature beam across the living/dining/kitchen area was created.
Part of the design was to create a space that could be used as a multi purpose office/living space which could easily be sealed off for guests creating a third bedroom.
The large overhanging soffits provide shade all year round, and the courtyard at the entrance was to be designed as a Japanese garden.
There is a 72sqm 3-bay shed, built by local Kiwi Sheds with a plywood-lined self contained studio apartment.
A lot of hard work has gone into sculpturing and developing the gardens. using local trees and plants, mainly natives. There are a pomegranate, tamarillo, avocado, lemon and lime trees on the upper level.
Internally there are numerous chattels that are part of the sale. The project allows you to make the final decisions on the interior colors and some fixtures and fittings.
This is certainly no ordinary home and needs to be viewed and explored.
